About the game
At this game, you will play as brand new recruits to the Ferelden chapter of the Grey Wardens following the defeat of the Archdemon Urthemiel and subsequent end of the Fifth Blight.
Your recruit may be from a variety of origins and will belong to one of three classes: mage, rogue, or warrior.
Character briefs will be written in the Nordic style, with game runners using players choices when signing up to inform their writing.
The Dalish Elf background will be available for players to choose, though there will be limited spaces for this origin.
This is a non-profit game being run by fans of the series for fans of the series, and any money that is left over at the end of the run will be donated to a charity of the players choosing.
Each player will be provided with a piece of Grey Wardens heraldry in the form of either a tabard, sash of belt pennant that they will be able to take home with them at the end of the event as a memento.
You will enjoy this game if:
You like high-threat games - the game is accessible to non-combat players, but there will be continued threat and peril for your characters.
You are a fan of Dragon Age! This game takes strong inspiration from Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, and we recommend playing these games before coming.
You are comfortable playing characters who are given a written brief, with established relationships and dynamics.
You are comfortable with a Nordic-style game that involves heavy emotional investment in your character and their situation.
You enjoy combat, puzzle-solving, intrigue and plot!
You enjoy a play-to-lift or play-to-lose game style - your character is in a horrible situation and you may not survive the weekend!
You will not enjoy this game if:
You are a play-to-win believer - we all know the fate of every Grey Warden, and your character carries an innate tragedy.
You do not want to engage heavily with the themes and genre of the game - Dragon Age is a dark fantasy setting, with a lot of violence, horror and suffering.
You would not enjoy playing characters within a brutalistic military order. We will have plot and game for non combat characters, but at their heart, the Grey Wardens are a martial order and war and death are key themes of the game.
You do not enjoy emotional roleplay and heavy investment in both characters and setting.
